Wonderful department full of wonderful hard working employees. Please if you can, adopt a pet and give them a loving home.
I dropped off towels and blankets. Guy behind desk muttered, just put them on top of the pile. The place seemed disorganized. I hope they keep the animals in a neater fashion
** please read ** Came in to adopt a deaf puppy. I was told to come in for a meet and greet with my blood hound. Great idea! Was happy to do so. only problem was the meet and greet was done in the lobby entrance, lots of traffic of ppl and other animals plus 5 employees all in one small area. My blood hound was very excited and vocal, as blood hounds are they are a vocal hunting breed...my back ground includes vet tech and a dog groomer So Im aware of dog behaviors and how to read them as I do it for a living. I was shocked when they deemed my dog aggressive with in 5 mins of being there? My gentle boy has never been aggressive. The staff was condescending and rude when I wanted to understand better of why ? All they had to say was my hound barks too much and that's aggressive behavior. *If you are adopting here i would ask for a secluded area for your meet and greet.* A controlled environment is a must for a meet like this which staff didn't seem educated on. My frustration is that this is NOT a no kill shelter and if they are trying to save dogs they need to be educated so the dogs can actually get adopted. The whole encounter lasted 5 mins before they told me no and sent me on my way. I hope that puppy found a forever home like I wanted to give him💔 as someone who lives to serve animals, I was devastated by this.
My husband and I adopted a cat Iris aka Sweetpea 3 months ago. They were very nice and patient with me. The employees I met/saw, seemed to be very caring about the animals which meant the world to me. Thanks again for our precious Iris! She is very loved and quite a bit of a stinker! But we wouldn't want it any other way ❤️❤️ Thank you for having a heart of gold to take care of all the world's precious babies. They are lucky to have you.
I adopted my dog from them in Dec 2020, and when the time comes, I will be going back to them first for my next dog. Why?
A) They took the time to listen to what I was looking for in a dog and the special concerns I had because I have a cat and have children who come to visit.
B) After listening, they introduced me to "Jacks", and everything they told me about his personality and traits was right on the money.
C) Jacks response to leaving. It was easy to see that he was attached to them, and they to him.
ANY animal shelter that takes the time and effort they did with my pup is worth their weight in gold. To get that out of a small city run shelter is something very special.
This is a small under funded shelter that is kept clean and well tended.
The folks working here take thier jobs very seriously and take excellent care of the animals that come and go.
Please visit. If not to adopt, then to volunteer or donate.
This is Hurricane Delilah, so named because you can tell when she hits the building. The absolute.love of my life and the bane of my existence! She loves life and only wants to be part of everything that is you. Like many blondes and is very smart, but.prefers to act like she is slow. For almost 3 years now she has brought life to my love and no, I didn't get that backwards..all for the whooping fee of $20.
I love that they were so nice when we adopted our cat Cricket we love him so much 🦁 …
I was disappointed to learn when I called to see if my cat had possibly been picked up that they don't patrol for animals. They only pick up injured animals when called.
